£16 million for HMS Victory

The flagship of Lord Nelson, made famous by the Battle of Trafalgar, is to undergo a £16m restoration project, with the
work being carried out by BAE Systems over a five-year period.

Work has now begun to remove the vessel’s three masts, bowsprit and rigging. The intention of the project is to guarantee the longterm future of the Victory and it is set to be the most extensive restoration of the vessel since it was damaged in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
