Stonehenge Alliance statement on UNESCO judgement on Stonehenge tunnel

On 6 July, in Krakow, UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee agreed that the benefits a 2.9km tunnel would bring to the centre of the Stonehenge World Heritage Site (WHS) cannot be offset against the damage it would cause to other parts of the WHS, and would have an impact on the Outstanding Universal Value of Stonehenge.

Rescue backs the Stonehenge Alliance’s calls for a considered approach at Stonehenge, for a scheme that reflects the unique character of the WHS. Click here for our previous response to Highways England’s consultation.
